IAFF Legislative Conference

Just a quick note to let everybody know that myself and V-Pres Ed Cleary along with MSCOPFF Pres Tod Miller and Political Director Joe Sands attended the IAFF Legislative Conference in Washington D.C.. We were able to meet with both MT Senators and Congressman Rehberg to talk about FF issues we have here in MT and around the country. All meetings went really well and we were able to lobby for support of MT firefighters. We also were able to sit in on a Pension seminar that had presentations on pension systems in Florida, Utah, Alaska and California and found out just how bad some states are in as it pertains to there pension systems. We also met with IAFF staff from Health and Safety to help us with our Presumptive Illness Legislation that we are currently working on along with the MSCOPFF's. We will have an update at Convention. 121st Annual MT State Firemen's Assoc. Convention

Members, just a note to let everyone know, the 121st Annual MSFA Convention has been scheduled to take place on July 12th-14th 2010, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Billings. I will be sending out the invitations along with credentials and the minutes from the 120th Convention in Livingston around the 1st of May. Hope you start planning. We will be meeting on Tues and Wed and the MT State Council of Professional Firefighters will convene there convention on Thurs July 15th and 16th. More info to follow-Rick
